I find it ironic that now, for a few days, I could be sleeping late. Things start up all over again in about a week, just like school hours, but right at this very moment I could be sleeping. But I am not. What is that about???
2) Eddie Murphy playing Mst. Rogers in the hood on SNL, an extremely funny series of skits, when Eddie Murphy was a regular on Saturday Night Live<--look at the shoe action
3) An album none of you have ever heard, I bet, which had this great cover and a pretty good hippie song, "White Bird" on it. Not a bad album, but the best part was the COVER ART. In those days, 1968-1969, we bought albums for the cover art alone, at times. That was how I got introduced to Hendrix. He had a great first album cover. And also the band Love. Their rendition of My Little Red Book was great.
4)The coup de grace on this beautiful day:
Possible you may remember a GIGANTIC pumpkin Jim got last October before Halloween--they gave it to him--they couldn't sell it because it was too heavy to lift into anyone's car! I had a series of photos of it which were pretty memorable on my journal page. The thing was massive.
Well, we never got around to removing it in a timely manner, and yes, it did get partially eaten by a raccoon or something, which makes for a nice look as you come up the steps...then it was winter and it froze, and then the deer checked it out...by the time it was removed by Jim it was not the pumpkin it had originally been...but it was still big and hard to move.
Then Jim put in a mailbox. Then our regular flowers started coming up.
All of a sudden one day, Jim and I were saying to each other: "What is THAT? It looks like some sort of squash!"
Of course you know that several days later we finally realized that last year's pumpkin had seeded itself and we are going to have some giant pumpkin babies and we had better get ready because if they are anything like their parent they are going to humongous and all the neighbors will be jealous and articles will be written, etc. Look at the leaves already! Just over night! Yowza!
have a good day,
jean
