There was something so old-world beautiful about this Russian laquered focal bead made of wood, which I bought at Artbeads...I put it in a special place, so I wouldn't lose it (no, I don't lose things often!), and I began gathering up little things I thought went with it, colorwise and mood-wise.
Now it is dislayed on Vintaj's websitehttp://vintaj.com/ because the major things I used to connect the bead together came from their lovely site.
"Inspiration in every finding" is their trademarked saying. It is SO true! I was able to make this piece, and express exactly what I wished to, by using their filigree pieces, some of their smaller pieces, some sterling , crystals and some wired ribbon with bluebirds on it.
This piece is entitled: "Looking Out Her Window". It is pretty simple, but it is the last thing I made before CHA, and amazingly, I found a jewelry box, there at CHA, made by a lovely company which was "all about" Russian influences. See the little cross on the bottom? I think that is very Russian looking. Lara's Theme returns? Possibly.
You can see that the lovely lady has golden painted branches near her wrist...I imagine that they are outside...and she is daydreaming about the bluebirds of Spring, which are coming our way, soon. Note the slight spring breeze effect. :)
You can enlarge the pictures by clicking on them.
thanks, jean

i just want you to know, jean, that my latest writing project is about kissing. and tomorrow i will present this to a room full of seminarians, two ministers, and the board of trustees. (it's not as bizarre as it sounds. but it's close.)
fyi, the average person spends two weeks of their life kissing. (to compare, we spend 24 years sleeping, six months in traffic jams, and five years watching tv. we spend six months on the toilet, two weeks praying, and three months waiting in line.) also, the average american woman will kiss 79 men before getting married.
there you have it. (i'm only using some of that, but it all came up in my research.)
kiss 79 men before getting married??? In thr OLD DAYS, one kiss and you were betrothed!!!
I love this info--all of it! You are doing such interesting work with your studies! Way to go, Jenny!
I love the folks at Vintaj!
Jean, this is fabulous, the way you put the whole thing together. I explored every part of it and it is LUSH!
Aren't they great, Andrew? So Cool! You can make anything!!!
Thank you Jafabrit: I love chokers and it makes me feel pretty! :)
it's that simple! You are kind to say those things!
yeah, 79 -- at least according to Andrea Demirgian's book "kissing." in any case, i'm apparently behind schedule.
sorry i didn't tell you how lovely your current piece is. sometimes i get excited to come share my random facts with you (because you are one person i know who enjoys them as much as i do) and i forget to say the important stuff.
Jenny, you just cracked me up, as usual! as for my necklace...thanks! You are always thoughtful amd kind, and I love you.
Oh how lovely. Those Russian beads are extraordinary. Each one is a little handpainted masterpiece. I love the way you've integrated the colors and the mood of that bead into the rest of the design.
