One of the perquisites of living where I live, other than having nothing to do except be a complete dreamer, still, at the age of 59, is the flat out beauty of the autumn experience here. The trees come into their jewel like colors at different times, then crescendo with our Japanese Dogwoods, six of which line our driveway which leads down to our incredibly fabulous "splanch". I wouldn't have bought it but I thought it was a ski chalet. It has quite the talent, when it is raining hard out side, of managing to take the chalet effect part over the front door and splash buckets of water over your head right as you are coming in or out. 35 years and NOTHING has been able to fix it. I think we need some sort of Rube Goldberg contraption to solve this. However, as it only happens, when it rains, we don't really remember to do anything about it 3/4 of the time. La, la, la!
Back to the Japanese Dogwoods. We got sick this year, and all I saw was a tiny bit of the beginning of one of them turning brilliant red, and then, wham! Today they had all "gone by", as professional gardeners like to say. Oh boy. What a disappointment! They looked so bedraggled, I decided to cheer myself up by pulling up last week's Artbead's email and post some stunningly inspirational Fall designs which deserve a second, third, fourth--you name it!-- look!

Here is the email I received:

I remember the dogwoods my Mother had around her great room. She had all these windows and a dogwood outside of each one..in the fall the colours were just ravishing! In Texas the trees are still green lol its like ohhhhh comeon already. That makes me want to scream! I miss the fall colours of the North and VA where my family is!

Thank you-- I didn't make this necklace: I just love it. I wanted it as my example for this entry! :)
