Ten Things of Thankful

Ten Things of Thankful
Hi! I learned a lot this week, so I wanted to discuss learning and why I am thankful for it.

I am thankful that the things around me make me curious. I love to research things so the Internet is a great assistance to my curiosity, whether I want to learn about famous people, nature, colors, films, or whatever has interested me that day.

so here are some things I learned and thought about and learned and did this week

1) I learned I cannot figure out everything in one sitting sometimes. I know I KNEW this but it was really obvious to me this week. Movies help me a lot when I need to learn stuff about human nature.
I saw Whiplash this week, and Crazy Heart.
I made a lot of snap judgements from a pompous high place about these films, their musical scores, and the plots. Then I went back and thought about what I had learned. If I had any original conclusions about these movies, it is because they were worth thinking about, for me, I learned I just might not be the greatest movie critic in the world, with instant insight and trenchant observations, even if it is really important to me and I secretly sometimes think I am a good movie critic.

here is the trailer from Crazy Heart

Ask me if I loved one of these films and hated the other. Yes, I loved one and hated the other and totally learned stuff from both of them, including more about music. I didn't know I had such strong feelings in new ways about jazz and about country western music. I even loved the music from one and hated the other, and it was the opposite of how I feel about jazz and county, normally.
I am shocked at how strong my feelings are concerning these two movies.

2) I am thankful that I am learning to live FREE (hello, not for free; just free). I cannot be thankful enough for this. This is the best thing which has ever happened to me.

3) fill in your own stuff, here and I will be thankful

4) I am thankful that I had time this week. That was a gift I really happy to have. I cooked stuff (chickpeas fried in olive oil, and tofu marinara) and photographed stuff (bracelets, magazines and shea butter).

5) I am thankful this week that I had an extra (small amount) couple of bucks and bought something superfluous when let loose in the drugstore. I also saw my former skin doctor in the drugstore (he is retired) and kidded around with him for a while. He has a great tan. Interesting for a skin doctor to have a tan, I think. What do you think?

6) I am thankful I got a kickass printer for free because I review for Amazon:
the Epsom Workforce  ET-4500 Wireless All-in-One Printer with Scanner, Copier & Fax.
Nice work, Epsom.

7) I am thankful for my family, as always.

8) I am thankful I can participate in this cool blog hop!

9) I am thankful for Spotify, where I can once again collect all of my favorite music in one place, which I have been unable to do since the unfortunate demise of my beloved Napster.

10) I am thankful for Modern Family.

Well, I am curious about the movies. I'm guessing you don't usually like country, but did in Crazy Heart. And you usually like jazz but didn't in Whiplash. And that you liked CH but no WL. Am I right?

I've never seen Whiplash because I heard it was hard to watch, and I've lost my motivation to watch painful movies since I had kids. Used to watch everything. Crazy Heart I liked a lot, but I've always liked old country (like what he talks about in the film) or what's now kind of country-alternative (for lack of a better term), and I've always like JD.

Once again, I'm so glad you're back with us at the TToT!
I love, love, LOVE Modern Family! I hoot and laugh out loud when it's on. The character of Cameron is supposed to be from the area where I live. I also love the show The Middle, which parallels are life more than Modern Family, especially the oldest son and our son.

A week with time!! Ahhhh! Well, technically I suppose they all have time. But it can feel like few have time for you to chose how it will be spent. That is a gift, you are so right.

Hi everyone!
Sarah, don't make me say which one I liked because I am actually really surprised at myself and am trying to be inscrutable! :) It is not easy because I am apt to be an open book. An open, dogeared, underlined book.
Ivy, you and me, we like free. Yay! And Modern Family too. When they are one back to back I drop everything and watch them.
Dyanne--I need to start watching the Middle, because if you like it, I will!
May. It was like a vacation at homw! Thanks!
Michelle! hah! You just cracked me up!
Kim--I agree. I go out of my way to reflect on what I am thankful for and when I find something I am really happy to join in and share it,

Oh, The Middle makes me laugh out loud on a regular basis, as does Modern Family. They air the same night, and between them is The Goldbergs, which also gets me laughing. If only I could watch them on a regular basis...
You've got me curious about the movie, too, but I won't make you say which one you loved. I doubt I'll ever get to watch it anyway.

I actually liked Whiplash but I think that was because I had no idea what it was about before watching it. And a free printer! Awesome! Having time though - that's my favorite. There never does seem to be enough of it.

Never heard of Whiplash. Thanks for lead! I enjoyed Crazy Heart. Saw it years ago. I could watch it again:) I applaud your keeping mum about which movie you liked and which not!
Good for you on #2 Jean. Must be a glorious feeling.
Cool on the printer!
